Joe Eagan

Milford, Pa. — Joseph L. Eagan, 67 of Milford, PA passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. He was retired after serving the Pennsylvania State Police as a Police Communications Officer for 26 years at the Blooming Grove station. He enjoyed traveling, cruising, reading and spending time with his family during his retirement years. Mr. Eagan was a member of the Retired Public Employees Association, AFSCME Local 13 of Honesdale, PA and the Pocono Mountain Corvette Club. He served his country in the U.S. Army. The son of the late Paul and Nora (Gifford) Eagan he was born September 24, 1943 in Great Bend, PA. He was married to Bette (Wilber) Eagan. Survivors include his wife, two daughters; Michelle Tonkin, Hawley, PA and Shannon Eagan; two grandchildren Garrett and Grant Tonkin, Hawley, PA; brother, Paul Eagan, San Jose, CA; two sisters Noreen Simms and Joan Fancher both of Great Bend, PA. The family will receive friends at Stroyan Funeral Home on Saturday January 15, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Mullen officiating.
