Phyllis Warren Oakley

Oakley, Phyllis, L. Canastota: Phyllis L. Oakley, 68, of Getmac Ave., Canastota, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at home with her family by her side. Born in new Milford, PA, Phyllis was a long time resident of the Chittenango and Canastota area. She was employed as an outside service clerk for UPS for 25 years, retiring in 2001. Phyllis was a member of the Oneida Baptist Church. She was a member of Teamsters Local #317 and was a past member of the Red Hat Society and several bowling leagues at Green Lakes Lanes in Fayetteville. She was a volunteer for the Madison County Office of the Aging and with the Pre-K program in the Canastota Schools. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald J. Oakley Sr.; her parents Cyril and Esther Warren; and 2 brothers, Lee Warren and Bill Warren. Surviving are 2 daughters, Sharon Baker (Robert) of Chittenango and Tammy Campanie (Samuel) of Canastota; 2 sons, Gerald J. Oakley Jr. of Canastota and DeForest D. Oakley of Chittenango; a sister, Bonnie Ratajski of N.J.; 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Phyllis's life will held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Oneida Baptist Church, 242 Main St. Oneida, with a reception to follow in the church's fellowship hall. The family will also receive friends 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the celebration. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Oneida Baptist Church or Hospice of CNY.
